The Museum’s extensive archive is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in the history of Coventry’s transport industry and the British transport industry in general. It includes :

  • Library : Books, sales literature, catalogues and magazines covering cycling, motoring and industrial topics
  • Technical Collection : Manuals, production records and handbooks (cars, motorbikes and commercials) from 1900. Manufacturers covered include Daimler, Hillman, Humber, Morris, Standard and Triumph.
  • Daimler Collection : 4000 glass negatives of Daimler and Lanchester vehicles and factories from 1900-1939.
  • Rootes Collection : Over 60,000 negatives and prints covering Rootes Group companies from the 1940s to the 1970s
  • Photographic Collection : Subjects include cycling, motoring, motorcycling, factory life, historic scenes. Companies include Maudslay, Armstrong Siddeley, Standard, Triumph, Lea Francis, Calcott, White & Poppe.

The archive facility includes state of the art conservation systems, and a reading room to support researchers. The reading room will be equipped with power and a wireless computer network and will be available by appointment only.
