School Visits
We welcome school groups on self guided visits but ask that you book your visit to us at least 7 days in advance so we are aware of your group size and requirements. If you would like to take advantage of the activities or other resources these must be pre-booked - please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Teachers are highly recommended to make a pre-visit to the Museum before they bring a group and this can be done free of charge, during normal Museum opening hours.
- The Museum is open 7 days a week - 10am to 5pm, last entry at 4.30pm.
- School groups must contain one adult to every ten children.
- There is a drop off and pick up lay-by for coaches opposite the bus station on Hales Street. Please contact us for further information about parking.
- Toilet facilities are available with full disabled access.
- An area can be arranged for eating packed lunches and we can store your coats and bags - lunch area is free of charge for schools taking part in paid-for activities, and for schools on general visits there is a £10 charge. This must be pre-booked.
- Avoid taking your group around the Museum shop and take advantage of our pre-prepared ‘goody’ bags.
