Easter Holidays: Family Craft Activities

Tuesday 3 – Sunday 15 April 2018
10.30am – 3.30pm

£2.50 per child, under 2s free (unless otherwise stated).
Aimed at children age 3+, but all are welcome.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) will be joined by the arts throughout this Easter Holiday. Enjoy the mix of science and art and take all of your creations home.

Tuesday 3 
Funky Phones 
An old-fashioned favourite. Make your own mobile phone using tins and string, decorate, and be amazed at how it works.

Wednesday 4
Visible Sound 
Have a go at making an incredible artwork with the help of sound and paint. Careful. This activity can get messy!

Thursday 5 
BIG DRUMS, little drums
Drummers at the ready, get set, DRUM! Make two drums and see how different they can sound.

Friday 6
Light Up Ping-Pong Creatures
Our animals are missing their ears. Have a go at making ping-pong animals that light up when put on top of a battery tea light. 

Saturday 7 & Sunday 8
Amazing Animals*
Have a go at making a variety of animals using the paper folding technique of Origami. Can you make the animal sound?
Free. Donations are welcome.

Monday 9 
Musical Pipes
Make a unique instrument with a few simple materials.

Tuesday 10
Wonderful Wind Chimes
Make sounds visible with the power of wind and add your own design.

Wednesday 11 
Super Sound Machines
Use the materials provided and get your inventor hat on to create an amazing sound machine. 

Thursday 12 
Sound Moves
Make an instrument that makes a sound when moved.

Friday 13
Extraordinary Ears
Have a go at making extraordinary ears using clay. Add it to one of our templates and take your fantasy creature home. Careful. This activity can get messy!

Saturday 14 & Sunday 15
Inspiring Instruments*
Have a go at making a variety of model instruments using the paper folding technique of Origami. 
Free. Donations are welcome.

Drop in. 

The crafts will take place in the Learning Centre on the first floor by the Future Technology gallery. *Events marked with asterisk will take place in the Behind the Scenes exhibition.

Throughout the holiday drop into the Learning Centre and add your thoughts to our installation: What type of car would you or your grown-ups love to drive?  What music would you listen to while driving it?
