999 - Emergency Vehicles Exhibition

This Spring, Coventry Transport Museum will be alive with the sights and sounds of the ‘blues and twos’, as our exciting temporary exhibition 999 showcases a variety of historical vehicles from all three of Britain’s emergency services.

Experience an exhibition for all the family, with a wide range of emergency vehicles on display. Discover and learn about these fantastic life-saving machines, some of which were made right here in Coventry.   Come and see the fire engine that in the 1920s was stationed just across the road from where the Museum now stands, investigate the police car which acted as an incident control room and see one of the paramedic motorcycles from the TV programme  ‘Emergency Bikers’ plus many, many more!

You can also enter our Free Prize Draw to win a Presentation Model Fire Engine plus a Family day out at the West Midlands Fire Service Museum and to Safe Side in Birmingham, which is a special full size experience facility which has to be seen to be believed!

This special exhibition is perfect for a family day out - don't miss these special 'extra' activities:

999 Easter Holiday Activities (23 March to 14 April)

999 Family Days (13 April & 26 May)

We still want to hear from you with your memories and stories of the Emergency Services in Coventry from the 1930's onwards, and you can submit your stories to the Coventry Memories website via http://www.coventrymemories.co.uk/memory/searchresult.aspx?tag=EmergencyServices.

You can view the Coventry Memories website from it's home page at www.coventrymemories.co.uk

Admission to Coventry Transport Museum, and to this special exhibition, is free of charge.

Hi Carl - great news that you are planning to bring your vehicle, yes please we do need you to book, so please can you telephone Clive Skelhon on 024 7623 4295 to do so? We understood that the event is already being advertised on the PVEC website but if not then please do feel free to post information there too. Hi Stephanie I'm hoping to bring my police car to the May 26th event for display, can I just turn up or do I need to book? Am I ok posting this on the Police Vehicle Enthusiast Website to see if any other club members are free?

Hi Ali - great to hear that you are thinking of bringing your granddaughter to the 999 exhibition. There are lots of things in the exhibition for children to do, however not specifically for children as young as 18 months. That said, lots of families do bring children of this age to the museum, and many of them thoroughly enjoy having different things to see and talk about together. I do hope this information is helpful and we hope to welcome you to the museum soon.
