Volunteers make a vital difference to our work and we are extremely grateful to all our volunteers whose time and effort bring so much to Coventry Transport Museum and its visitors.

People volunteer with us for a variety of reasons. Here are some reasons why our current volunteers are with us:

Museums Storyteller Living Interpreter – bring the fascinating history of the city alive for our visitors through its historical characters, objects and art. For more details view the description.

Museum Explainer Volunteer Role

We are looking for volunteers to get involved as museum explainers at the Coventry Transport Museum. To find out more about the role please see the Volunteer Museum Explainer role description. 

Volunteer for Family Workshops

We're looking for a practical and creative problem solver who can assist the facilitators and participants – starting with our exciting summer holiday programme ‘Creative Car Factory’. The role would be best suited to a volunteer with an interest in either science or arts and lifelong learning beyond the classroom. Volunteering with families including children under 5 years, you will be sociable, approachable and able to encourage family learning while having fun.  For full details please see the role description.

Buses Exhibition Volunteer

Help us to tell the stories of holidays, schooldays, trips and working on the buses from the past, present and future.  We are looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to research and exhibit a fascinating exhibition on buses and bus travel in the UK and worldwide. Coventry Transport Museum is home to Thrust SSC and Thrust 2, the world's two fastest cars.
