Information for the Media

Coventry is the birthplace of the British cycle and motor industries and the Museum displays the largest collection of British road transport in the world. Our collection includes hundreds of cars, cycles and motorcycles, over 25,000 models and literally millions of archive and ephemera items. We are designated by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) as a collection of national importance and are the only transport museum in the world dedicated to displaying the products of a city and focused on the skills, expertise and innovation of its people.

The Museum is always happy to assist media with any enquiries relating to our activities and our collections and can provide images and spokespeople on a range of related subjects.

In addition to offering spokespeople for interviews, television and radio broadcast, our facilities include :

Filming and Television

The museum offers an attractive backdrop for making films, television and video programmes, and for general photography. There is level access to the ground floor and lift access to the first floor. Museum vehicles may also be run if appropriate.

The museum's exhibits are colourful and photogenic. They can be used as a backdrop for interviews, presenters' explanations, and in connection with programmes about transport, social and industrial history. The museum may sometimes be able to provide a spokesperson to discuss matters relating to museums, transport and industrial history, or to participate in documentary work.

Naturally the museum incurs some costs when working with programme makers. However, we consider each approach on an individual basis and, depending on the level of publicity generated can be sympathetic when working out charges. Although we prefer to have notice we will sometimes be able to make arrangements swiftly.
