CTM Tops The Charts

02 July 2012

Staff at Coventry Transport Museum are celebrating after the Museum was named ‘Best place to visit in the Midlands’ in a public poll.

When David Beckham recently put together his list of the Top Ten places that tourists should visit in the UK, he didn’t include a single Midlands attraction in his list.  As a result, radio station Heart FM asked their listeners to vote for their favourite Midlands attraction, and Coventry Transport Museum came out top of the list.

The Top Ten included attractions such as Warwick Castle, the National Sea Life Centre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Alton Towers and Drayton Manor, and staff at Coventry Transport Museum are absolutely delighted to have been voted number one against such stiff competition.

Gary Hall, Coventry Transport Museum’s Chief Executive said of the accolade:

“This is fantastic news!  There are some wonderful attractions in the Midlands, and for Coventry Transport Museum to be voted the region’s best place to visit is a huge honour for us.  The Museum is home to the world’s biggest collection of British Road Transport, as well as the fastest car in the World, and there really is something for everyone to enjoy here.  Over 420,000 people visit the Museum each year, and we hope that by topping this poll even more people will now be encouraged to come and see what we have to offer.”

The news comes just days after Coventry Transport Museum opened its Summer exhibition Pedals To Medals, which tells the story of the history and heroes of competitive cycling.  Pedals To Medals is open daily until 14th October 2012.
