Museum Tours
Admission to the Museum is FREE of charge, but groups can enhance their experience by booking guided tours of the Museum for a small charge.
Highlights tour:
- This informal tour gives visitors a broad introduction to Coventry Transport Museum. Visitors will hear the story of road transport history in Coventry and discover more about some of the highlights in our collection from the oldest car; a 1897 Daimler Horseless carriage to the World Land Speed record holding Thrust SSC
- The tours are designed for those with limited visiting time or to be enjoyed before exploring the whole museum at your own pace
- Tours last approximately 1 hour
- Tours must be booked in advance
- Maximum of 12 people per group
- £3 per person – Including a ride on Thrust SSC simulator

Tactile Tours
Our specially developed Tactile Tour is an hour-long multi-sensory tour of the Museum. The tour covers a range of vehicles and objects from Coventry's rich heritage, and includes object handling, use of models/replicas and enlarged images. Visitors are encouraged to bring a camera, as there are lots of photo opportunities, with optional fancy dress!
Who Is The Tactile Tour For?
The Tactile Tour has been designed for visitors who are blind or partially sighted, as well as people of any age who have learning difficulties or special needs, who would benefit from a 'hands on' museum experience.
When Can I Come?
Scheduled tours run twice monthly:
* On the third Sunday of each month at 11am (excluding December)
* On the first Wednesday of each month at 2pm
Places are limited to ten people per tour, and places must be booked in advance to avoid disappointment.
Tailored Tours For Organised Groups
If you are part of a group, such as a school, college, club or day centre, we can arrange a tailored tour for up to ten people at a time, on a date and time to suit you. The tour is fully adaptable and can be built around the specific needs of your group. Lunch areas are available upon request, as well as a secure area to leave bags and coats.
Tactile Tours cost £2 per person
If participants require the support of a companion, the companion's ticket will be free.
