Congratulations to Award-Winning Esquires Cafe

06 November 2012

Steven Prime of Esquires Coffee Houses here at Coventry Transport Museum, was crowned the Midlands and North Wales Franchisee of the Year at the 2012 bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year Awards, supported by Express Newspapers.

The judges were impressed with Steven’s involvement in Fairtrade awareness, by partnering with local primary and secondary schools to promote best ethical business practice, as well as his continued work for the charity Coffee Kids.  An enterprising businessman, Steven has worked extremely hard to develop a positive image of the Esquires brand in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

Steven Prime said of his achievement: “Since I became a franchisee for Esquires Coffee Houses I have continued my commitment to support charitable causes, and customers have been very supportive of this. It’s a great achievement to be recognised by the industry and be named 2012 bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year for the region. I’m sure the team will be equally as delighted as I am with this recognition.”

Cathryn Hayes, Head of Franchising at HSBC, commented: “This year’s finalists have clearly demonstrated a passion for their business – support from their franchisor and other franchisees in their network means that they are not in business alone which has allowed them to really focus on delivering excellent customer service, a common thread running through their stories. Steven Prime of Esquires Coffee Houses has demonstrated real passion for his business throughout the judging process. Through his charity work to support Fairtrade as well as his involvement in various school business programmes in the area it’s evident that Steven is a well-valued member of the community and the coffee industry.”

Sean Hammond, Head of Franchising at Express Newspapers, said: “It’s great to see so many enterprising franchisees come forward and showcase great business practice; we were blown away by the stories of the people behind the brands. Many congratulations to all of the individuals we have seen over the course of the awards who have set such a high business practice standard.”

Brian Smart, Director General of the British Franchise Association (bfa), said: “Each year we are captivated by the stories that are showcased by franchisees. It’s brilliant that these awards can highlight such great ethical business practice among the industry and recognise the work of so many talented businesspeople.”
