This makes That with These | Wrapped in Plastics
These events are cancelled due to COVID-19.
Plastic disintegrates very slowly. It has been introduced to the world as an alternative to dwindling natural resources such as wood and minerals. While it is a good idea to think about alternative material to use for items such as takeaway cutlery, cups and plastic bottles, there is already a huge amount of plastic in landfill, parks, forests and oceans that will take hundreds of years to dissolve. Why not reuse already existing plastic in a meaningful way?
In this session, explore the benefits and dangers of plastic. Learn how to prepare plastic for different uses and create plastic ropes from bottles or ‘yarn’ from bags. Find out how these can be used in different ways to make something new and beautiful which will last for a long time. Will you make a basket, a bag, a toy or even a lamp shade from your upcycled plastic?
