Mick Ives's bike joins Coventry Champions Gallery

World Cycling Champion Mick Ives’s Fuji Cyclo Cross Bike is now on display in the Coventry Champions Gallery.

The bike is the one Mick used to win the 2004 and 2005 U.C.I. World Masters Cyclo Cross Championships, at Zilvermeer, Belgium, a championship he has won six times, along with one W.A.O.D. World Masters Road Race Championships and one I.C.F. World Masters Mt Bike Championship. Fuji, the American cycle manufacturer were Mick's Race Bike sponsors at the time. The framed World Championships Jersey also displayed is from winning the World Masters title in Belgium in 2001.

Coventry veteran cyclist Mick Ives has won 8 World Masters Cycling Championships. His achievements include a total of 17 World Championship medals and 79 British Cycling Championships. He is the only male British rider to represent his country internationally at road/cross/mountain and track and has also won National Championships on road/time trials/hill climbs/cross and mountain bike. Off the bike, he has managed the Great Britain team at the World Championships for both cyclocross and mountain biking, as well as acting as professional team manager for several UK based professional teams.

This year he will be riding the exact route of the 2017 Tour of Italy. The Giro d’italia is 3,400 km long and takes place over 21 days in May and this year sees the 100th edition of the race. He will be raising money for 4 charities, Barnados, Rainbow Children’s Hospice, Padraic Sweeney Kidney Research and Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice. You can find out more and donate here.
