Coventry Transport Museum is to launch a brand-new cycling exhibition next month

26 February 2021

'Gearing Up: From Saddle to Spoke' is due to launch online at midday on Friday 12 March 2021.

The exhibition – which it is hoped will open physically when the museum reopens – features over 80 cycles and celebrates the history, unique designs, and benefits of cycling.

As part of the exhibition, the museum is also unveiling ‘Behind the Frame’ an online showcase exploring how bicycles can be a catalyst for a new lease of life and opportunity.

'Behind the Frame' will launch in advance of the full exhibition and will go live at midday this Friday. For this project Coventry Transport Museum commissioned artist Jaskirt Boora to uncover the stories of people and their bikes through connecting to pioneering community initiatives, regional cycling equity schemes and Coventry’s public.

This exhibition focuses on portrait photography and personal stories and includes collaborations with community groups such as Motorvate & Sähëlï.

Jaskirt Boora is an award-winning photographer whose work focuses on a socially engaged practice using portraiture and documentary photography. (www.jaskirtboora.com)
